Platform Engineer was my literal title at CyberGRX and Cloaked, and the pattern was the same both times. Find where shipping hurts, build the paved road, then do the unglamorous adoption work of docs, demos, and pairing until the platform is simply how work gets done.

A platform nobody uses is a hobby. Mine get used.
At CyberGRX I redesigned the build and deploy process, presented it, and had every engineer in the org shipping with it within 3 days. Deploys went from quarterly manual events to on demand.
I led the migration from a legacy PaaS to a multi-account AWS EKS platform meeting SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701 requirements, with a GitOps CI/CD pipeline that accelerated deployments 30x.
At Inception Health I designed the CDK patterns application teams used to ship HIPAA-compliant microservices themselves, and built mobile CI/CD that turned TestFlight and App Store releases into self-serve deploys from git.
At Block Party I designed and built the framework behind the company’s internal AI coding bots. The newest platform customer is the agent, and the paved-road playbook works on them too.
My first 90 days on your platform team
I sit with the teams doing the work and trace the slowest, most error-prone parts of getting code to production.
Tools and defaults that make the right way the easy way, treated as a product with the engineers as customers.
Docs, a presentation, and pairing until usage is universal. Platforms earn their keep through adoption, and I treat that as my job.
